Every registered recording carries cryptographic proof of who made it, tucked inside the audio itself. Copy it, compress it, re-upload it — the proof stays with the music.
More and more recordings turn up with a label attached: “AI-generated”, “human-made”, “official”. Labels can be copied. Metadata can be stripped. Evidence can’t.
The mark lives in the audio itself, not in metadata that any tool can strip out. Wherever the recording goes, and whatever gets done to it, the proof goes with it.
At every step, a check still resolves back to the original signed master. An identifier kept only in metadata, like an ISRC, would have been lost at the first re-upload.

A missing mark is never proof of synthetic origin. Plenty of legitimate recordings carry no mark, simply because they were never registered.
An identifier carried only in metadata can be separated from the audio. A signed, fingerprinted record cannot be quietly rewritten.
A check happens in three layers, and only one of them asks you to trust anyone at all. The result rests on evidence that anyone can re-run for themselves.

In plain terms. Genotone is the neutral registrar and identity checker, not the final judge. Because the record format, the signature method and the verification process are all open, a broadcaster's compliance team, a collecting society or a court-appointed expert can build their own checker and confirm the answer without asking us for anything.

Genotone owns the audio soft-binding layer: the inaudible mark, the recovery engine and the registry. It doesn’t replace the signing infrastructure underneath it. It extends an open standard governed by the Linux Foundation.

Institutional licences cover managed APIs, bulk processing, service levels and support — not the underlying right to check a claim, because that right is open to everyone.
Each of these bodies governs a piece of the trust chain provenance depends on: C2PA for content credentials, OpenID for verifiable identity, DDEX for the metadata standards the music industry exchanges, eIDAS for EU-recognised digital signatures and trust services, GSMA for the mobile identity and device-attestation frameworks that let provenance be checked on a phone, and the Linux Foundation for the open-source infrastructure it all runs on.
